Students working on fourth grade mathematical skills focus on the following content areas:  (Also listed are examples of specific skills within the content areas)

            Algebraic Reasoning

• Understand and describe patterns.
• Use operations and properties to determine equivalence and solve problems.

      Numerical & Proportional Reasoning  

• Comparing numbers and fractions
  
• Identifying equivalent fractions, and add/subtract fractions
• Estimate answers involving fractions, mixed numbers and decimals
• Multiply and Divide

            Geometry and Measurement

• Describe and represent polygons and solids

• Solve problems involving elapsed time

• Use customary/metric tools to estimate, measure and solve problems involving length

            Working With Data 

• Collect, organize, display, and analyze data

• Understand and apply concepts of probability
