    Good Monday Morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend and was able to take advantage of the beautiful weather we had! I decided to try something a bit different for P.E for the next two weeks. I want to try to focus on students having fun while engaging in physical activity. Here is a link to a Google Doc that has many dance along playlists and mind-body activities. Students have the option to do any of the activities listed in the doc. Students may also email me and let me know which activites they did and enjoyed, or how many of the mind-body activites they were able to do!     4/27/20- Good Monday morning, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend.

    The weather for this week looks like a combination of good and not-so-good; I know the sunny and warm days can make it easier to get outside and be active, so I always encourage that if possible! If stuck indoors, there are a lot of options for physical activity as well. I will post links for ideas for physical activity indoors and out. 

     

    On a side note, I put together a BINGO board that can maybe give your child some ideas for physical activity, both inside and outside.

    Monday 4/20/20- Welcome back, everyone! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable April vacation.

    I wanted to try to streamline how I am providing resources and information for everybody. As of right now, I am going to be posting the same fill-in calendar every two weeks that can be filled in with any physical activity of yours and your children's choosing (it can be anything!)

    In the calendar document you will find suggestions for physical activity as well as links to websites that are there as well. For the middle schoolers, this will also be on Google Classroom. If possible, please send me the filled in calendar at the end of the 2 weeks (May 1st).

    4/8/20- Good morning everyone! I hope everybody is doing well and staying healthy (mentally and physically)!!! I just wanted to reiterate, everything I post here is optional and is there to use at your discretion, whatever works for you and your family on that given day/week. These are just suggestions for physical activity, I know everyone can tend to get a little stir crazy being inside, especially when the weather does not permit physical activity outdoors. Please feel free to scroll through this page and find something that works for your child(ren). I am going to attach a link to a video that is just a simple overview of what you can do at home that will hopefully benefit your child(ren) and make physical activity enjoyable.

    4/6/20- Good sunny Monday morning! It's going to be a beautiful weather day to spend outside so I am attaching an outdoor scavenger hunt for your children to try, if they would like to! You can come up with your own box if one does not work for you and you child(ren). Feel free to print it out, if you are able and send me a picture once you are done!

    4/2/20- List of links for at-home physical activity through YouTube: 

    Happy Thursday everyone! I found this great YouTube channel called "Active Kids 2.0". Here is a brief description: 

    Welcome to Active Kids 2.0 #AKids Fitness channel! Coach Larissa Maloney is former professional athlete, volleyball coach, fitness instructor and podcast host. Every day she will bring you a NEW workout to do at home with no equipment! These workouts will be for KIDS of ALL AGES and their families! Let's use this time to have fun, get energized & stay active during this new transition of life! 

    *Here is the link- Active Kids 2.0 you can subscribe to the channel so it will alert you every day when the workout will begin. Work outs are about 25-30 minutes, but you can do as much or as little as you would like. Give it a try! -Ms. S

     

    4/1/20- I hope everyone is staying healthy and well, and trying to enjoy the sunshine while it's here! I came across a fun "sock challenge" that I posted to Google Classroom as well. All you need are a couple of pairs of socks and an open mind to complete this challenge! Make sure to encourage your child to keep track of the points. Once they're done, they can send me a quick email with their score (if they choose to), or they can try a couple times to see what their highest score is! Have fun and good luck!

     

    3/31/20- Good morning! I came across another great resource. It's from SHAPE America (Society of Health and Physical Educators). It is meant to be a print-out packet for students to use at home, however it is still useful for suggestions and ideas. *The 3rd page has a great physical activity calendar for the month of April!! Feel free to check it out, and let me know if you have any questions.   

     

     

    3/29/20- Hi everyone! I made a Google Doc that will help students stay active and engaged in physical education. There is a calendar that students will fill in for the next two weeks, instructions are included. I will be posting it to Google Classroom for grades 6-8 as well.     3/26/20- Good morning! I know I have been posting a lot of resources for you to use, but you're welcome to use any or none, I just want to make sure that there is plenty of information for you and your children to use during this time. Here is a link to a Google Doc that has numerous PE links depending on the grade level.  You will find the grade level highlighted in purple, so choose the one that works best for you.     3/25/20- Hello all! Here is a link to a suggested at-home calendar to help keep your children physically active at home.     - One more resource: There is a YouTube channel called "P.E. With Joe" and he is hosting a live "P.E. Class" everyday. It has been very popular with elementary and middle school students! If you are interested, all you have to do is go to YouTube, or Google, and type "P.E. with Joe" and it should come right up. I belive he starts everyday at 9:00 am, but if you cannot make it at that time, the videos will be saved on his page. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns! 

     

     

    3/24/20-  Good morning! I found another great resource that is a combination of both PE and Health and is a great tool for suggested activities. Grades 6-8 can find more information on their Google Classroom, so I will be using this website more so for the younger grades.

    PE 

    Throughout the school year all of the PE classes will shift from unit to unit focusing on the individual skills and strategies of different sports and activities. There is always a warm up activity to begin each class. There is also a large emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect in my classroom. 

    To ensure your child can safely participate in PE they must be wearing sneakers. Students in the past have worn sandals or boots to school and packed a pair in their backpacks on the days they have gym. For students in the middle school (6-8), they must also bring a change of clothes and should be bringing in a stick of deodorant. If the problem persists with an individual they will not be allowed to participate. The following are the days that each grade has PE.

    PreK: Wed/Fri

    K: Wed/Fri

    K/1: Mon/Thu

    2: Tue/Wed

    3: Tue/Fri

    4: Tue/Thu

    5: Tue/Thu

    6: Mon/Fri

    7: Mon/Thu

    8:Mon/Wed

     

    Health

    Grades 6-8 have health 2-3 times a week for the entire school year. Each grade has a separate syllabus but the same expectations. Students were to return the syllabus signed so there is no confusion on grading or the units being covered. We are using the curriculum from the connect-ed online program.
